With wings one finds themselves over a rocky precipice, between the expanse of ever-falling sky, and a ground which gives them temporary rest. A line of ink reveals the mysteries, encrypted in color, which lift the willing, into Destiny's reach...
Vivisection of Flight, a Figurative Abstract Painting
Vivisection of Flight, Figurative Abstract
Ink & Watercolor on Paper

"...the journey of our New Life..."
Vivisection of Flight is one of my line-drawing-paintings that is all about deciding something really big or important. This artwork embodies the emotions and realms of perception my mind experiences when I'm contemplating decisions in my life. They often feel like "stepping into the great unknown."
Most importantly, it mirrors my intuition's feelings right at that moment, the most important moment, when we begin the journey of our new life.
Art supplies I used for Vivisection of Flight
For the initial painting, I used a felt Micron pen on 80 weight Strathmore, drawing the entire figure, the ledge which they're standing on, and the clouds and background, in one line. It's a continuous line where I loop it back onto itself when I'm finished with the composition. That part was important for me becasue some of my more Jungian-feeling artworks make me want to capture the eternality of the experience, highlighting it within the composition.
The colors I used were my Windsor Newton watercolors, and for added texture ontop of the watercolors, I used my Derwent water soluble watercolors.
