Embraced by, and embracing-with, a singular intention like an innocent inked line, a mother both holds her child and is held by her child, within an eternal cascade of primal and uplifting energies, exuding in both colors and darkness, holding a light in their solemn space...
Mother and Child
Mother and Child, Figurative Absract Painting
Ink & Watercolor on Paper

"...suspended forever other wordly..."
Mother and Child is one of my first one-line figurative paintings, and within it is the eternally captivating orchestra of feeling that only exists between a mom, and her baby. Swirling in the one-line, which reconnects to itself to symbolize Eternity, are their two figures, suspended forever in a miraculous and other worldly glow.
What I used to paint Mother and Child
I used my illustration Micron pens to do the one-continous line first. This piece I did all at once, without any studies of it, on Strathmore 80 weight. I just happened that the first-go turned out to be exactly what I felt was befitting the subject, with the one-line playfully at moments yet fiercely at others, depicting the shape of a woman and her child. I used my set travel-tray set of Windsor Newton watercolors to finish with the main colors, and then my Derwent water-soluble pencil colors to complete the painting.
