Gia is a veteran Foster Doggie in this pet portrait, having welcomed several other pups to the house even while she was being fostered - Perhaps one of her superpowers is how determined she is every day to catch a squirrel rabbit turkey or anything that's at a park ... Even Swallows respect her gaze!

This painting of Gia captures one of the most expressive parts of her personality, her absolute love of adventure. There's practically nothing she loves more than to sail out on the car ride to a forest or a dog park where she knows she'll get to chase squirrels and whatever else might be caught unexpected by her keen wits!
What I used to paint "Almost Free"
I made sketches of Gia, trying to capture all her personalities and expressions first in pencil and some in watercolor. I then scanned my sketches with my Epson scanner and began to play with colors, not knowing what the ultimate color composition would really highlight what I was trying to capture of Gia's intense focus. As I began turning down the saturation of different parts of the background, I decided to go with the digital environment to finish the artwork, using my Wacom Intuos pen to apply vivid color and fill in spaces with the excited lines and strokes of bright color that speaks perfectly of Gia's Rescue Foster personality.
